Looking for a laid back pub off the beaten path? Come here!

    Looking for friendly bartenders?
    Come here!

Located in the Covent Garden neighborhood, my husband and I were in this the area after leaving the British Museum. Intrigued by the "live and eat pie" sign painted on the window, we decided to check it out.

We were instantly greeted by the bartender who offered us a few tasters of various brews. I decided to go with a pint of the Coast to Coast ale, while my hubs went for one of the darker red ales, along with a classic beef and potato filled shepherds pie. Served with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, it was delicious!

My hubs and I actually ended up sitting at the bar chatting with the bartender as he was super welcoming! As the evening continued, it became quite the lively place and we ended up talking with a few others who stopped in for a drink. It's definitely a fun and chill pub to check out!

A quiet and small pub in the Covent Garden area, I came here on a Thursday night to watch some football. The screen was small but we were able to adjust the volume ourselves which made it ok even though the match was not particularly interesting. They have the full range of usual beers plus some from the Meantime stable which I tend to favour. Those pints did cost more than £5 though. Given its central location and the fact it tends to be quiet, I think I'll be back here in future.

Whoa!  A pub in Covent Garden, at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night, that's practically empty -- that should have been a warning sign.  But I was looking for a quieter pub where I could read a book, so I decided to give it a try.  This dialogue ensued:

Me:  A pint of Leffe, please.
Barmaid:  Do you want the full pint?  [Pause.]  It's quite strong.
Me:  [Pause.]  I'm okay with that.

Me if I had said what I was thinking:  If I order a pint of Leffe, give me a pint of Leffe.  Don't insult me as a lightweight.  Leffe Blond is what, 6.6% alcohol?  Yeah, I think I can handle that.  Or are you not in the business of selling beer?

The Leffe was okay.  I didn't stick around to have another.  I passed on the food (mostly pizza).  But it was easy to get a seat, and I was able to read my book

P.S.  Don't confuse this place with the Sun Tavern, which is just a few blocks away, around the corner on Long Acre.

This pub served me what is quite possibly the worst pint of Greene King IPA that I've ever had. If you like real ale, avoid the place. There are so many better pubs.

Small pub but has a very nice atmosphere/decor.
Warm in the winter time, even when sitting by the entrance.

Only had drinks here but there were a lot of options. Definitely come here again -- it seems to be overlooked by the other pubs around.
